I am Uday Gajendar. I am a UI designer in Silicon Valley. My work has spanned enterprise software, creative tools, Web apps, and phone UI's at a range of companies: Oracle, Adobe, Cisco, and Involution, a design studio. Holding degrees in both interaction design (Carnegie Mellon) and industrial design (Michigan), I continually advance the field with frequent talks and papers about designing attractive, intuitive digital products.

2008 Accomplishments

  • Spoke at the annual Silicon Valley CodeCamp about UI Design Fundamentals, to about 150 developers.
  • Taught a course at San Jose State University focused on user interface design fundamentals.
  • Reviewed a few research papers for CHI 2009 submissions, which is always interesting!
  • Traveled to New Zealand for vacation, took some amazing photos and had great food and wine. (and met some wonderful people!)
  • Delivered comprehensive, executive-approved product UI specs for various Cisco VTG phone models.
  • Published an article in ACM Interactions on the core elements of an aesthetic user experience.
  • Started and maintained a personal blog, Ghost in the Pixel, where I chronicle my reflections on the deeper issues of UI design.
