2009 Accomplishments

  • Attended the annual IxDA Interaction'09 conference in Vancouver. You can read my review here.
  • Traveled to Hong Kong, where I toured the HK Polytechnic School of Design--very impressive facilities and program! Photos are here.
  • Traveled to Tokyo, where I briefly explored the amazingly rich scene of products, fashions, technologies, and so forth. Photos are here.
  • Designed an iPhone App for a Palo Alto-based startup, focused on enabling group event management, discussions, and calendaring, with a corrolary website.
  • Published an article in ACM Interactions proposing how to go beyond "data-driven design" methods, towards creating beautiful, soulful engagements with users.
  • Great consulting gigs with Netflix, Citrix, and Linked In! Contributed to new proceses, improvements in web and desktop application UI's, and created next-generation concept proposals. A nicely diverse mix of design problems!
  • Continued updating my blog as usual...
